| The energy requirements, therefore,
have to be satisfied either by import of conventional energy resources
or by developing other sources of renewable energy. In view of the
landlocked location of the country the importing of conventional energy
resources are not costly but also vulnerable. It is imperative to
develop renewable source of energy such as Biogas, Solar energy, micro
hydropower, and Wind Power. With this aim the Rural Technologies Development
Workshop was born in 1992 as private sector with a vision to prevent
further degradation of the environment and work for the development
of rural areas. This department equipped with a metal factory for
research and production of affordable cost technology such as solar
cooker, wind pump, cross flow turbine, solar water heater panel etc. |
